Land Acknowledgement

This acknowledgement shows respect for how Indigenous Peoples have shaped the region and reminds us of our important connection to this land where we collaborate, learn, and heal. We wish to acknowledge the people who have walked this path before us, those who walk on it now, and the future generations who have yet to walk upon it.

The Women and Children’s Health Network acknowledges that we are situated on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabek Nation. We acknowledge the enduring presence of the Indigenous Peoples of this region, specifically, the Tri-Council First Nations comprised of Beausoleil First Nation, the Chippewas of Rama and the Chippewas of Georgina Island.

We also acknowledge the Moose Deer Point First Nation, the Wahta Mohawks, the Wausauksing First Nation, the Georgian Bay, Barrie South Simcoe, and Moon River Metis Councils in this region. Additionally, the Wendat and the Haudenosaunee Nations have also walked on this territory over time.
